Interest lists, which function like Twitter lists, will give users the opportunity to follow pages based on specific interests. Top stories from each interest will occasionally make an appearance in the primary newsfeed, and categories can be accessed on the left side of the newsfeed.
Here’s some screenshots from Facebook’s Newsroom:

It looks like users will also be able to view suggested interests. Could Facebook be turning interest lists into mini discovery engines?

Facebook states, “Interest lists can help you turn Facebook into your own personalized newspaper, with special sections—or feeds—for topics that matter to you. You can find traditional news sections like Business, Sports and Style or get much more personalized—like Tech News, NBA Players, and Art Critics.”
According to the post, users will be able to subscribe to already-made lists or create their own. Others can subscribe to the list, or it can be kept private.
